India kicked out the British, Africa kicked us out also, and most of the rest of our Empire now have their own independence, and quite rightly too.

But the question I wish to ask now is, when is Britain going to get back it's independence?

Is America not an independant sovereign state because it has a constitution that limits the laws that may and may not be passed?

Britain is similarly an independant sovereign state who's laws are limited by constitutional agreements.

The only difference is that constitution is held in common with other states.

You may not like that constitution but that's tough.

All those old chestnuts roiling out time and time again, "we are a mongrel nation, built up over thousands of years, the Romans, Danes,Saxons, Normans".

What a load of claptrap and well you know it, the last time we were invaded was in the year 1066.

Much as one wishes to tip toe round this, the English nation we are talking about is pre the massive immigration from the colonies, that was thrust upon us without us having a say in it.

And don't come back with that other old chestnut, "yes but after the war, we needed those workers from overseas" other countries managed, why couldn't we?

I suppose some of you would be still quite happy if Germany had invaded us back in the 40s, saying just the same as you are now "Well nothing to worry about just another invader, to join all the others so as to enrich our already 'mongrel' nation.

That is true but we mostly consider ourselves English. our loyalites are with England not with all those other countries. That is not the case with many if not most of the immigrants of the last 100 years. They may be born in England but whose side are they on when it comes to international team games and more seriously events taking place in their grand parents homeland. ?
To get back to your question //when is Britain going to get back it's independence? //
The answer I feel is, Never ! We are far too diluted by other cultures to be independant.

er ... As much as it saddens me to point this out, around 93% of the population of Great Britain is made up from people who are English, Scottish, Welsh or Northern Irish. So exactly what is this "massive immigration" you are talking about AOG ?
