but it is special dispensation and Jack says we should all obey the same laws

----Why should they be given a special dispensation for operating outside any law you or I would have to follow ?......-------
I'm not homophobic, ann, I do believe anyone has a right to refuse someone into their guest house if they don't agree with the situation they are presented with. The law in this case needs to be amended. Everyone should have a choice in the matter. And I do think that the first couple set up the Guest House owners in Cornwall.
pmsl....I actually read that slowly.

I disagree Joe...
Where do you draw the line Gran..?
ayg, i didnt say you were homophobic.
Christ jack, you keep saying 'within the law'. If everyone had stayed within the law , you would not be able to vote at the next election..

I say give the Christians some slack. They have held these beliefs all there lives.
That doesn't mean I agree with them.
didn't this couple say they'd give any damages awarded to Oxfam? Would kind of suggest it wasn't a set up unless they're just the best chuggers ever!!

And you know that *how*, joeluke............oh, that's right you just suspect it and it suits your argument.

SUSPECT - I shall now be ignoring you as you seem to be ignoring me.

AYG - See my previous points. They can, but not for the reasons that they actually DID.
They were NOT set up.
Question Author
Eh, Mick ?
What law would have prevented me voting ?
I am not ignoring you , you said they should abide by the same Law as us yet when i give you a perfect example you are stuck for an answer
Question Author
Not stuck, SUSPECT, it just has absolutely *nothing* to do with my thread.
SUSPECT......it's called ignoring the question if you don't have a viable answer
Question Author
Yes, Mick.
Time has marched on and many things have changed.
There was a time when *you* couldn't have voted, either...........

I use the phrase 'within the law' as it seems too many people are willing to believe that because these couples are Christians, they should be allowed to ignore bits of the law.

What or who was abused, joeluke ?

Oh, and facts if you please, rather than speculation.

AYG - There is absolutely nothing whatsoever preventing practising religionists running guesthouses...........but it must be *within* the law.
Why should they be given a special dispensation for operating outside any law you or I would have to follow ?

PLEASE forgive me asking you again, can i not read in your post

------Why should they be given a special dispensation-----

That is why i have given you the perfect example
Why can old Christians not have a special dispensation
What about if I booked a room overnight at an establishment run by Muslims, Jews, other religions unspecified, agnostics or atheists. One male, one female, unmarried.
Could the booking be legally refused?
It doesn't affect me one way or the other, I am not religious and i don't give a flump who fluffs who. But at least i can stand a distance away and be unbiased.

.
Now you're just being silly SUSPECT. Can you find another example?

<<Sikhs who wear Turbans need not wear crash helmets when they ride Motor Cycles or Scooters. They have been allowed to wear Turban as their only headgear. In accordance with the Motor-Cycle Crash Helmets (Religious Exemption) Act 1976 passed by the British Parliament in 1976, Section 2A "exempts any follower of the Sikh religion while he is wearing a turban" from having to wear a crash helmet. >>

There is a law exempting them............so they are 'within the law'.

Happy now ?
Same here Mick but i hate people spouting we all have to abide by the same law and then you find some that don't
