But it's easier to take on racial minorities than to take on bankers. If he thinks withholding grants to Islamic groups is going to make Britain great again, good luck to him; my own guess is it will make more people more disaffected, but who knows, I could be wrong and the new Jerusalem is just around the corner.
Of course it's failed.
People should just live and let live within the law of the land..Forcing us to be one big happy family causes more trouble than it's worth.
Interfering woolly liberals etc cause more friction.
Instead of putting us all in social groups we should just judge people on their character.
We are all individuals!
I'm off to punch a Wolves fan :-)

Multiculturalism was never going to work with such a domineering religion such as Islam.
In there quest to turn their mistakes into successes all governments whether they were Labour, Conservative, New Labour or Con-Lib-Dems have bent over backwards to appease Islam.
The public and the media etc have been dissuaded from any criticism of Islam, in case of being branded racist. Even our home-grown young Muslims who have brought terrorism to our streets, have not been properly condemned, by the so called tolerant Muslims.
/// But the Muslim Council of Britain said its community was being seen as part of the problem rather than the solution.///
If the Muslim community is not part of the problem then who is?
Chief executive Mohammed Shafiq said: "British Muslims abhor terrorism and extremism and we have worked hard to eradicate this evil from our country.
What did they do when they suspected the Stockholm bomber they just banned him from their Mosque, but didn't report him to the police. Muslims wish to attend to their own within their own community, but they have got to realise they are part of the whole community and therefore should use the powers of our law enforcement for the good of us all.
/// The Luton Islamic Centre, where Abdulwahab prayed and which forced him out when he attempted to preach about his radical views, admits it did not inform the police. ///
Let's hope we can now bring the problem out for discussion, without being branded a racist, it happened with the problem of mass immigration so let's hope the same can be done for the Islamic problem, if some toes are trodden on in the process, so be it.

jno....I work for Barclay's Bank´and as CE I make them a profit of almost 2 billion UK pounds for the bank. This is taxed and the tax goes to the Government.
The Bank says "thanks sqad" and gives me a bonus of 9 million UK pounds for making the bank 2 billion UK pounds.
50% of MY bonus goes to the Government.....nearly 5 million UK pounds.
Shares rise....shareholders are happy.
Cant see the problem.

starbuck....I agree.....no moans from the borrowers when offered 120% mortgages, no surprise from the Politicians when the regulatory body said "Oi we are spending more than we are earning...............everybody was happy so the attitude was "Don´t anybody p1ss on the parade, we are all having a ball"
Then "wham"....it all went pear shaped.

in part you are right mcmouse - I think the point that was trying to be made is that the economic failure led to the failure of multiculturalism - which is stretching it too far. I also think that Cameron, Merkel, AOG and the rest are off the mark. The truth is that 95% of us (whatever the number) are tolerant and a tremendous amount of work goes on by many in society, be they volunteers, participants, paid folk, companies, local government, social support etc to help create multiculturalism and exposure for us all - just think of what has happened in the arts as a leading example. This unspoken work goes unnoticed but should nopt be forgotten in this debate.
Of course there are problems in society with extremism of any sort - I am always amazed how ABers forget the Irish problems when slamming into Islam; fundamentalism in any society be it religion or views is not usually beneficial to society. The debate should be how to manage/control extremism in any form and reward tolerance, but without the risk of kowtowing to be so politically correct straightjacketed which we risk becoming, and may have already been stitched up on.

That made me smile in a "nice way" as I enjoyed the "prose".......;-)
I may have got this wrong, but are you suggesting that the "tolerant, non extremist" Muslims should be rewarded for being..........tolerant and non extremist?e
Or have I misunderstood you?

rewarded as in being recognised praised and complimented, and as should anybody who works to encouraging society to being more tolerant. So not just Muslims per se.
Though I did think we had a gong system for that in part.
And, as we know, the Press like to focus on the bad and not the good part of society's curate's egg............

I'm lost all these posts about the banks. What has that to do with Multi culturalism ?
However maybe I've missed the point somewhere, but getting back to MC . I believe it has failed but I'm not surprised. On the one hand we are told to be a happy band of brothers all living together whilst at the same time we are being encouraged to to live apart by supporting all these faith schools. If you split children apart in that way how can you expect them to come together at all other times. It is a form of Apartheit . Education has always divided us and maintained our class system and now it contributes to keeping us apart on racial and cultural grounds.
