After Years of lefty hand wring liberal Government by Noo labour and oooman rights for the aggressor not the victim, just what do you expect.
Until we learn and lock these scum up, in a proper prison (No tv, no PS3, no vote, no drugs) we will continue to see this get worse.
No doubt this post will prompt some name calling from the hand wringers.

I'm probably what you would think of as one of your so called "hand wringers" but get this:
I think the f***ers should be locked up too.
This country is far too focussed on money/property related crime IMO.
Violent criminals are not being dealt with properly IMO and individuals who perpetrate UNPROVOKED attacks like this should have double the sentence of individuals involved in violent crime where it has been deemed that there were mitigating circumstances.
That's confused you hasn't it Bogbrain :-)

because most of our laws date back to when the lawmakers were the landowners and they made/had the laws bought in to protect them and thier property from the peasants.
Robbery always seem to get longer sentence than physical harm

I'm also one who you'd consider a hand-wringer ( I don't even know why that would refelct my views but hey ho) and I agree that they should be punished severely, these fines of a couple of hundred quid being dished out for stabbings and unprovoked attacks are sickening. My girlriend's dad was attacked for no reason at all by a lad who didn't get fined because he may revert to crime to pay it off and was instead sent to anger management classes, while the victim missed time off work and was too nervous to go out for a few weeks.
Whatever analysis one makes of the incidence of violent crime to suggest there is a correlation with the Labour Government or Human Rights legislation is puerile and under estimates the roots of the problem which stretch back generations and more than a few governments of all shades.
And please can we stop with the Noo and the Ooman. It stopped being funny just after leg warmers were in fashion.

Such incidents make me livid, especially as not only would the perpetrators receive a tap on the wrist, in the unlikely event of being caught, but there really is no deterrent in place which may possibly have prevented such outrages in the first place.
This young girl has to try to pick up the pieces of her life and move on which could be extremely difficult, and her mental scars will undoubtedly last long after her physical ones have faded.

AP, Why does it confuse me? I'm glad you agree.
See you couldn't resist the Noo labour name calling though
Zeuhl, if it winds you up I'm not stopping. And most peopel can see the link between years of soft justice from Noo Labour and the adoption of Cherie Blaris pension plan (aka the oooman rights Act)

Really? Who exactly? Bliar and Co were guilty of many things but to try and directly correlate with the trends in (independent of govt) judiciary's sentencing policy or our commitment to the Treaty of London and the international court since 1949 is just stupid.
Keep the sad, tired old mis spellings if it amuses you. Do you still do a hilarious Frank Spencer impression as well?

That's everyone then Geezer? As I was implying. LOL
BTW I don't think it's a Lefty experiment - more likely a liberal experiment. The Marxist governments around the world aren't very tolerant of law breakers so far as I can tell.
I don't suppose Ken Clarke cuts the mustard for you either. I think he's a decent chap but then I'm a liberal (small L)!

Why do we have imbeciles on here trying to score cheap political points on such a serious subject? Moronic individuals.
There is no shade of government in this country which has cracked down on wrongdoers for donkeys' years despite all their laughable sound bites like "Tough on crime, tough on the causes of crime", and such other drivel we've been spoonfed over the decades. They lost the respect of the majority the day and hour they binned capital punishment some 50 years ago. Since then it's been no better than open season for every scumbag to commit heinous crimes with impunity.
Politicians are NOT there to do their electorate's bidding, otherwise they'd alienate the wishie washie element if they did. And that might just cost them their seat at the next GE, perish the thought! So we have to lump it whilst the gutless MPs appease the invertebrates in our society for fear of getting the heave ho.
Inevitably, therefore, horrific crimes like this will continue to be perpetrated regardless of which mob is in power, for the only difference between them is that they sit on opposite side of Parliament to one another. They neither have the will or the inclination to put strong enough legislation on the statute books which may help prevent vermin as in the above article from flourishing within our midst.
In the meantime we limp along from one outrage to the next.
