I would like to take this opportunity to address some rather ill-informed posts on the recent thread on the gay cricketer who came out.

Does it matter? Yes - it does, because gay kids need to have a variety of role models. It makes them feel better about themselves.

Why do gay people feel the need to announce their sexuality? Well, why do straight people do the same? Think about it! Every wedding you've ever been to ha been a declaration of heterosexuality. Every time a bloke picks up a copy of FHM and points out how much he fancies Cheryl Cole - isn't he shouting about his sexuality?

Please continue to raise questions on sexuality, but try to think before writing, because some posts come across as the product of extreme stupidity.

"I will never accept that "gayness" is nothing more or less than a genetic disability. "

Which people are to be persecuted for, apparently.

Or if not persecuted (which I just know you'll deny), then treated like scum and insulted (which you've done on this thread). I also like how you commit yourself to 'never accepting' an alternative view despite any kind of implications that scientific enquiry could potentially make... You are, naturally, perfectly qualified to put your foot down and decide for yourself matters of human biology? You have at least a PhD or MsC in Natural Sciences? Because if you don't then the above statement is staggeringly foolish.

Your view of homosexuality also implies that people are born gay - which would appear to make it 'natural' (not that this is actually relevant as there's no logical reason for approving of something based purely on how 'natural' it is).

And if homosexuality is a 'disability', it's a pretty lame one. Just as an example (and believe me, it's just a small example), two of my friends are both gay and are pursuing work in the sciences - one is on the research team at Cambridge which recently discovered a protein in the immune system that cancer cells hijack and partially explains their resistance to vaccines. The other is working on developing a new kind of antibiotic at another research institute elsewhere.

Are they 'disabled' because of who they fall in love with? Are their contributions to society null and void because they can't naturally procreate with a female? How dare you.
given your track record, Doc, may I suggest that you look up the translation of تخبط, إنتفض, تقدم متعثرا in English and then practise what you have done, and threatened to do so, on numerous occasions, albeit too temporarily in the past in my opinion - especially when you try and turn to insults, which only further reflects a tiny mind, intellectually.

blimey Doc, try to drag yourself out of the 1970s.
Well said kromov. It is not a disease or a disability, I often wonder how many gay people wish they could be otherwise.

'fraid not.. you're the one looking like a joke here.
If anybody says a bad word against the gays on here the sheep don't half get excited and the insults come thick and fast

Answerprancer

Put a whole bunch of narrow minded thickoes like you on a desert island and see how THEY do - they'd probably self destruct.
