If this is a response you need, try something like -
Effective learning is achieved by use of a prepared strategy,rather than simply leaving the process to chance. By use of effective planning in advance, the learing task can be considered objectively with proper time for structure and delivery to be assessed. Delivery will then be made in a cohesive and properly structured fashion, rather than simply leaving the incusion of important points to chance, with the high risk of ommission. Review after the delivery will ensure that the learning objective was received appropriately, and that all the points intended for conveyance were received fully, and as intended, with the additional option of some feed-back, either straight away, or incoroprated into a future learning dilivery.

Alison - in my job I provide training to meet identified needs, so the process for our audience (very simply) is
Identify the need for learning/training - ideally by appraisal and personal development plans (that's the planning)
Doing - identify a suitable course to meet the needs of the individual, and attend the training, putting the learning into your own situation and context
Evaluate the training - what did you learn, how it will change your practice in the workplace - and ideally do the same again three months later, to see how your practice had actually changed as a result of that episode of learning.
