The Cortege

A man had just left his office and was about to cross the road to a pub where he was to have his lunch when a funeral cortege appeared. He stood respectfully on the pavement as it passed and watched ..... A man walking in front of a hearse a second man walking in front of a second hearse and behind the second hearse a man with a very big dog and behind the man with the dog six men walking in single file. Funny! he thought. I'vr not seen anything likethat before - wonder what it was all about. He crossed the road and had his lunch and was about to return to his office when the cortege returned having been to the church was now on the way to the crematorium.As before he sood while the cortege passed.... A man walking in front of a hearse a secon man and second hearse and a man with a big dog, but now rhere were twelve men walking in sigle file.His curiosity got the better of him and he approache the man with dog " I have no wish to intrude upon your grief, but what is this all about?" The man with dog replied "in the first hearse is my wife, she was in the garden when the dog suddenly attacked her and she succumbed to her injuries and died, in the second hearse is my mother in law who was visiting and when she saw the dog attcking her daughter she tried to separate them and she too was attacked and died. "Oh said the man - could I borrow your dog?"T which came the reply - " Join the queue"

I saw a giant marrow carrying a coffin earlier today. It was nothing to worry about though; it was just a funeral courgette!
