Am just looking for reassurance - I got money from Post Office from NI money to Bank of England then I started to peruse Xmas cards - when I got home I know that money was stolen from my bag because if the bag had have tumbled other small stuff would have fallen out. I will be so glad to see the endof 2011. Anybody out there got money stolen coming up to Xmas. I am just numb and thank God I have money to replace it but that isn't the point is it?

You need to tell the PO really, they won't be happy if there is a pickpocket in their premises. Did you tell the Police? YOu might be able to claim it back of your household insurance, cash is often covered but you would need a police crime number (well, you would on this side of the water).

So very sorry to hear that Connemmara. It's never happened to me thank Goodness, but it's happened to my Mum and she was very upset and then angry. Reassure yourself, as we did Mum, that it could have been worse, she could have been hurt and she's more important than money. Hope you soon feel better x
I once went (zillions of years ago) to Butlins Minehead to work over Christmas so that I could be with my boyfriend. Arrived. Went to toilet and put purse down on the floor. Next minute a hand came under the door and snatched it. Never found who did it but decided I did not want to stay and went home for Christmas. So in answer to your question, yes - got money stolen coming up to Xmas, and it was all that I had at the time.
Sorry to hear that, Connemara......of course you would feel down as a result........already suggested....I would go back to the P.O...maybe you just left it on the counter or some good soul handed it back in, if you dropped it there.
Either way it will rest your mind to see if they have it....if not then CCTV would be in there to see if it was stolen, and I would report it to the police too, especially if credit cards were in your purse also, and cancel them straight away, my lovely.
Not ever happened to me, as my wallet is like Fort Knox....I do hope you feel better soon, Connemara and best wishes for Christmas and The New Year

I was in a charity shop once when a young woman tried to dip into my handbag, I turned and told her if she tried again I would break her arm, she loudly denied she was doing anything wrong and her and her male companion left the shop in quite a rush. I was lucky she didn't get my purse, if i'd turned round a split second later she'd have had it and been on her way. Ever since then I have been really paranoid about how I carry my bag when I have money on me.
when I exchanged money I just flippantly the money into my bag and did not zip the bag I blame myself entirely for being so careless. Yes I did go back to PO but I did lift the money and tossed it. Anyway have got over it have to - but I will be more cautious in the future - my God are you still learning at this late stage of life.
Hi Conne....sorry to hear about your bad news.
Yes, I got my purse nicked just before Christmas many years ago, back in the days when we got paid in cash. I'd gone on a Christmas shopping weekend to Liverpool with a friend. All the week's wages were in the purse. I was devastated.
I did report it but the police more or less just said that I should be more careful in the future (the thief had lifted the flap of my handbag to get my purse and I never felt a thing).

Like pusskin, my purse was stolen in Spain, dipped from a zipped bag when I was getting off the bus. I'd foolishly checked the contents of my purse while sitting on the bus, so someone had spotted me, I had 100 euros in it but I never felt a thing when it was taken - very clever, these people, but it taught me a lesson I won't forget.
While browsing just now, I have come across this post since before Xmas!!
I walked round the market with my hand on my bag all the time while strolling, and only took my hand off my bag to hold up 2 tops that I thought I might like.
It was only at the next stall that I noticed that my zip was open, and purse was gone. There were two foreign looking women at the stall at the time and I didnt think anything of it. It was them as there was no-one else around at that time. My purse and bag was like fort knox so I thought
