problem with a mate paying me...
3 Answers
i am not going to say anything to them - because shes a good mate ... but im pissed off about this ... but am i right...?
basically im involved with a band and work at gigs to cue the videos etc. im paid £50 a night.
last gig, i went with them in their van to a venue that was quite far away, at about 2pm... i waited round all day while they set up and waited for them to sort the projector etc - they didnt do it.
for some reason it was not possible to use it in the end - not my fault at all - so i couldnt do anything, and i couldnt leave so i just watched the gig.
gig finished and i got home about 2am.
my friend said shed make sure i still got paid - as i was there, ready and was with them for about 12 hours.
the other day i was given £20 as 'expenses' ... it cost me about £8 to get to their house and back, and then a days worth of food and drinks while sitting around, almost totals that ... so basically ive received nothing.
i wouldnt have minded a bit of cash knocked off - because i didnt actually do the job - but that is less than half, and only really covers costs...
i know this is her boyfriends doing ... hes a bit weird and had a cob on because i backed my friend up in a dispute -obviously!
(he was refusing to sit on a seat an wear a seat belt in the van with all the gear - she was nervous because of the legal aspect - but also because her brother was killed - by unsecured items flying around on a coach... his head was pierced ... her boyfriend even placed a pole against her headrest and commented, that if he sat on the seat, he wouldnt be able to hold it and it might go through her head! ... so hes a total d1ck... but i didnt say anything except to point out the trouble she'd be in if the police stopped her etc ...
basically he always refused to sit in the seat and i think he thinks her being bold enough to finally insist was my fault ... maybe it was...i dont know
but anyway... i think possibly for spite hes done this... because after all they were paid the same amount for the gig...
when they mention the next gig, i am going to mention that they must check the venue first as im not prepared to spend 12-13 hours of my day for nothing if it happens again, but im going to be nice and pretend i am not bothered...
but am i right being annoyed? would you expect to be paid regardless?
or at least most of it?
or would you expect that if you didnt do the job, really because they hadnt done a proper recce, you dont get the money?
cheers
