I need ideas for sophisticated glamourous outfits for a boyish figure?
7 Answers
I have a boyish, tall athletic figure with not very many curves - I'm sporty, so most of the time I'm in trainers and combat trousers. When I go to a smart event or out on the town I tend to opt for girlish clothes: lots of frills and ruffles, prints and polka dots, short skirts (like Zooey Deschanel's kind of style)- because they make my figure look more feminine. I also can't wear high heels (back problem)so usually go for cute little flats.
My boyfriend recently hinted that he likes more grown up, sophisticated clothes and perhaps finds my style a little childish (the way he said it sounded nicer than that though!) - but I kind of think those femme fatale Jessica Rabbit dresses etc only really look good on curvy women and would just make me look like a drag queen. Does anyone have any ideas on how to dress sophisticated and sexy when you're more sports woman than sex kitten?!
I did try wearing a bodycon dress with a belt around the waist because I was told it would give the illusion of curves, but it just made me look like a string of sausages to be honest!

How about something more draped and grecian looking ? Try googling images of someone famous who has a similat figure to you (Charlize Theron ?) and seeing what they wear on the red carpet and then try and emmulate that. Alternativel y, if you are near a big department store they will often offer a personal shopper to guide you. Good luck :)

You need something with some detailing around the hips/waist area. Something similar to this would work:

Team it with a pair of kitten heels.

if indeed you are posting hither and yon about fashion, you are way out of your depth. The figure you describe is a couture ideal, so any classic cut of column. sheath or LBD would be what you would naturally choose.
However, I'm sure someone will come along and post a link to the site you need to buy from.
