I have this thing about not phoning people after 9pm if its not something that can wait until the next day.

Different if its an emergency. Whats your cut-off time?

Someone I know always phones late. He's a taxi driver and keeps odd hours. I got a missed call from him on the home phone at 10.37pm last night! I know it saturday but still!

Depends on who it is, one person I know retires about nine, whereas another is wide awake and ready for a chat at 1 am.
About the same as you Booldawg, unless it's an emergency I try not to phone before 09.000 and after 21.00.
I'm the same Paddy - does anybody else thing the worst - the 'oh God what's happened' if the phone goes after 10pm?
I was told, on good authority, that the cut-off time in the evening was 10pm at the very latest.

In the morning I would not phone before 8am unless it was a real emergency.
I call to see if it's alright to call.
I find that no matter when I phone my brother it is the wrong time - if he answers. :-)
Wouldn't phone my daughter after 9 pm but could probably phone my son and a couple of good friends at midnight and find them all wide awake.
Depends on person. I try not to phone at all if possible, I hate talking on the phone.
Depends on the individual, I don't phone anyone after 9.30pm but my son would be an exception.
I agree with others - it depends on the individual. I have unusual work shifts, this week I start at three each morning, next week I don't start until 7am, the week after it's back to 3am, and the week after it's a mixture of early and late shifts (anything from 7am andl 10pm). I find a call after 7pm a little intrusive. I regularly get calls at 2am, work and personal, although this suits me fine. I can hardly remember my own timetable, so I don't take it out on others when they ring me at the wrong time.
Depends on the individual- one person I'm confident to call at 3.00 am if I want to but my rule of thumb for casual acquaintances is 9.30 pm ish but morning's certainly never before 9.00 am. I'm like to kill people who call me earlier than the start of business, I think that's really rude.
No exceptions.

We never call anybody after 2000 hrs and we never answer the phone after 2000 hrs.
All the best obscene phone calls seem to be after 11pm.........
LOL ^^^^^ good to see you on form, crafty.
Like China, I'm not a chat on the phone kind of person, especially as I have hearing problems. I get up at just after 5am and am in work for 7am and tend to go to bed early so wouldn't be impressed with anyone calling me late unless it's an emergency. Depends on the person and the circumstance though.

Unfortunately I tend to be up the top in many people's mobiles so tend to get those random calls or texts where it's stuck in someone's bag or pocket with the phonelock off.
We don't use phones much - but after about 945 pm until about 0730am would be my norm, anything else is urgent.
I wouldn't call anyone after 9pm unless someone has died.

Hate it when the phone rings in the middle of the night. The last early morning call I got was to say my dad had had a massive stroke and I had to get to the hospital quick.
Ppphhhtttt! I wish my dad would adopt some sort of rule. He has a habit of phoning in the middle of the night (like 3am) for a chat and then has the cheek to get annoyed if I'm not exactly welcoming. I'd unplug the phone but MIL is in her 80s and if anything happened and we couldn't be reached....
I wouldn't phone most people after 8pm (not that I phone many people, actually only phone my dad and one friend - wouldn't phone her in the evening as her husband is a fireman and wouldn't want to frighten her that something bad might have happened). No one phones me but some customers phone at stupid o'clock and I just don't answer the phone.
3am?! Jeez!

I rarely answer the phone, so it doesn't bother me what time people ring as I doubt I'd answer it anyway. It's always on silent - mobile and landline.
