Starting Your Own Country With A Flower
2 Answers
There were 2 fiercely independently-minded women, called Dee and Sally, who one day decided to start their own country (after seeing Danny Wallace's BBC TV series).
When they were working out all the details of their flag, their currency, their constitution, etc., they decided they needed a floral emblem. So to this end, they visited a laboratory which specialised in the genetic modification of crops and flowers, and asked them if they could run up a new species for them, which could be used as their floral emblem.
The lab said that they already had dozens of new flowers which were just awaiting a use such as they were requesting, and asked them to come and have a look at their range. So they went to see their stock, and after a while, found a flower which they were very happy with. They asked if they could take it with them there and then, and the technician said that they could, as long as they registered it as exclusively their own, and gave it a name.
So they thought about it for a while, and eventually went back to the lab and said they had come up with a perfect name for it.
'And so what name do you want to register it under?', they were asked.
'We're going to call it the Dee-Sally Nation Plant'.
