Gin

Any gin officianados out there?
My taste buds have recently been awakened to the delights of gin and tonic...good slug of gin, lots of slimline tonic, large slice of lime and a good squeeze of fresh lime juice. And of course plenty of ice.
Am currently using a bottle of budgens own brand gin, having tried aldi Oliver Cromwell 1599 small batch which was absolutely delicious, really smooth and flavoursome. Have a bottle of Gordon's somewhere too.
In the past I've tried Bombay sapphire but didn't really rate it, mind you it was a while ago and I'm no expert on gin.
Any recommendations for a really good one (or two) to try next?

Sipsmiths, don't even bother with the tonic - lots of rocks, twist of lime and you have the XO equivalent of Gin

Blackwood Gin from the Shetlands....really nice.

Hendriks is good.

For a long G&T, pack the glass with ice, twist of lime - or cucumber, and 80% Tanqueray, splash of tonic to fill the glass.

I am a fan of Bombay Sapphire but my friend has rung to say she has got me a bottle of Aldi's Oliver Cromwell to try.
I would recommend a Pimms Turbo..............1 part Pimms, 2 parts Gin, 4 parts lemonade.

If this is anything to go by, you may well be wasting your money on anything other than this at less than a tenner.

The best way to solve your dilemma is to go to the canary gin bar in bath and make up your own mind. Or lose it. :)

Tanqueray but not the 10. The regular one is sweeter and no 10 is very aromatic more like the Bombay sapphire. Lots of ice slice of lemon and schweppes tonic. Not so fond of lime in gin.

Gingejbee, interesting taste test results in the link you gave. I see Asda own brand was a gold award, and the aldi one which beat some of the more expensive gins is their basic gin, not the small batch one.
Craft, not a pimms fan, reminds me of cheap sherry...although maybe adding gin is the way to go.
