Hard Winter ?
6 Answers
It was late Autumn in North Dakota and tribal members on the Indian reservation, asked their newly appointed Chief, what the weather would be like in the approaching Winter.
The Chief was a young man of the modern age of cell phones and computers and knew little of the wisdom and knowledge of his forefathers.
Not wanting to look dumb, the young Chief resided to play safe and said he expected this winter would be a very cold one and suggested that extra firewood should be collected.
Later when the Chief was alone, he resided to phone the weather office and check on their forecast.
The weather man told him, it was likely to be a very cold winter coming.
After hearing this, the Chief declared to his people that it was going to be very, very cold and even more firewood should be collected.
The Chief found these forecasts worrying and repeated his calls to the met office to be updated on any further developments an yet again was informed that it was gonna be extremely cold.
Lots more wood was collected and huge piles appeared outside the lodges.
The next time the Chief phoned for an up to date report, he asked the forecaster, what makes him so sure about the cold weather reports.
Well, the weatherman said, on my drive, here to the office, I've noticed the Indians collecting more and more firewood.
