2 months ago I bought an item for 150 pounds, at Tescos, it has not been opened and I have proof of purchase, I now wish to exchange it for something worth 170 pounds more, do you think Tescos will refuse, or will I get lucky, thanks
Whilst they would be within their rights to refuse as the goods are not faulty, I firmly believe the way you approach the subject and your manner have a lot to do with any outcome. You could say that you had made a purchase for a Christmas present but when you checked with your grandson you have found he already has one. If you don't try you will never know.
I think you might be expected to pay the £170 difference.
Their response may also depend on whether the item is still selling at that price and is still something that's in demand.
It is electrical and was bought early as a Christmas present for my grandson, but as it hasn't been opened and I now want something worth 170 more instead, I am worried I may have wasted my money if they refuse to exchange it, if they do they have lost another customer, will see how I get on tomorrow, thanks

Two months ago the seasonal exchange policy wouldn't have been in force but I agree with those who say give it a go.
A couple of years ago I wanted to buy some presents in October and when I asked if I could still change them after xmas I was met with some strange looks from the young staff. However a senior member of staff came over and said 'Oh yes, that's fine, make a note on the receipt'. Just ask!
had a word on the phone with Tesco Direct first, they authorised it , so my local Tesco Extra checked and confirmed it was ok, then done the exchange for me, pick up in store tomorrow, happy !
