Just home from a wonderful day at my son and his family's home. Christmas lunch with all the trimmings and great fun with the grandchildren playing games, getting my nails painted etc. Then came the sad news that a very old friend had died. My son knew this morning but kept it from me not to spoil my day. Very thoughtful of him but I'm totally devastated.

Commiserations Maggie, xx
Many condolences, maggie. Why does this sort of thing always seem to happen around Christmas time.
Sad news Maggie.
Sad news maggie, I'm glad your son gave you the chance to enjoy your day.
When I got married I asked where my cousin was. I knew he was a globetrotter, but was certain he'd be there for my day. Everyone skirted around the question. I asked and asked....until my Aunt (his mum) eventually told me he had committed suicide. Noone wanted to tell me
Oh maggie, that is so sad. My condolences xx
I had this sort of sad news on Xmas day 4 yes ago. My sister passed away in Spain on her first morning there! Grandson couldn't wake her up and she had dies in her sleep. Her first morning in spain after us dropping her off at the airport!!! Total shock.
That's very sad maggiebee! No wonder you are devastated.

Thanks for all your responses. It always seems a bit worse at Christmas time but I know I'm not alone in this with all your kind thought winging my way.
I am sorry to hear about your friend Maggie. I am glad you were able to enjoy some time, before you knew.
