The cuckoos are just packing their bags for the trip back to the UK - it's simply unbelievable the mileage they cover each year and how fast they can move when they get the urge to migrate.

I sponsor one of the birds (it was a lovely Christmas present actually) and get quite emotional every time he phones home :+)

[ if you select an individual bird, you can read his/her blog and play back the migration routes for each year ]

Oops, I thought you were tracking Gness!
Which one is your cuckoo, Dave ?. Hope it's Dudley.
Did you get some 'meet and greet' with the bird before he/she flew off to Africa Dave?

I can't get excited about birds - I like my mammals. Wolves, dogs and all cats will do me nicely. This was my first love http://i60.tinypic.com/2n8rjw2.jpg he died in 1988 (aged 8) and thinking about him still makes me smile. He chased mopeds and motorbikes and once brought down a jogger.

What breed of dog was he, wolf ?.

Not Doodley, tone - just think about my name ...
Has to be David, I didn't know this existed. I haven't heard a cuckoo in a very long time
Righto Dave. He's in East Africa right now.
Tony

Bullmastiff/German Shepherd.

Dave

I have thought about it, I have only seen one cuckoo and it was attached to a clock. :-(

I'm pleased there was an 'l' in that last word, wolfie ...
Thanks wolf, I thought it had the look of a mastiff.
I am not even going to think about that . . . . . .
LOL, you already have.
Tony

Forgot to add - he was six or seven months old there.
He was certainly a big lad, wolf.
I've not heard cuckoo around here for about five years and it's probably twenty or more since last actually saw one, yet when Iwas a kid they sèemed to be all over the place.
I didn't even know Cuckoos were migratory so thanks. We tend to hear one (?) in the summer.
