The thought had never occurred to me before this thread. At all the funerals I've arranged, not once was it even hinted at that it might be something to consider. If this is something you're dealing with at the moment, my condolences to you, crackernut2.

I did £20 for the boys to have a drink on dad !
No, absolutely not.
Absolutely not - totally inappropriate!
That was nice of you Minty but it's not 'customary'

Type Your Answer Here...It's never occurred to me and I've never noticed it being done . Has someone suggested it?
My sister tipped £20 at my Mum`s funeral. I wouldn`t have though as I thought the idea was a bit tacky.
why not Ummmm ? I also tip taxi drivers....this was dad's last journey after all...
quite customary here from what I know !
I used to work on a part time basis for a taxi/hearse company and drove both the hearse and the cars containing family members and we always got a tip but it was always given to us by the undertaker,
as long as it is done discreetly...I did it after we had been dropped off at the reception and nobody was around...
Firstly I'm sorry for your loss. I really don't think it's something they would expect, I must admit it was not something I even though of, but no reason why not if you wish do do it.
Why not....because it's not a taxi. We had 6 cars at my dads funeral..

Where do you stop? Do you tip the driver, pallbearers, funeral director, priest...etc etc.

Funerals are expensive...they cover their costs in the price.
I asked almost the same question after my Husband died 8 years ago.

The general agreement then was no, that it was a somewhat outdated custom.

Please accept my condolences.
It's the last thing any grieving person should have to think about.

If you feel you want to then give the money to the bloke with the hat and cane, he will share it out. Most of the staff are part time and as a supermarket says, every little bit helps.
Ive been to a fair few funerals but never heard of tipping!

I did however usually get a tip from the undertaker when I was a grave digger after presenting a nice grave for a burial. Apart from the one that was too small and the coffin wouldn't fit down the hole, not a good day.
We did at my mothers funeral - it is common on the East coast of Scotland
Edinburgh too Islay !
It doesn't seem appropriate to me, they will be paid by the undertakers.
