When I lived in America 30 odd years ago I worked for Anheuser Busch, brewers of Budweiser. At the time Schlitz beer had a slogan 'When you're out of Schlitz you're out of beer' We had one too (unofficial) 'but when you're out of Bud you're out of business'.
In a liquor store near Lake Tahoe my husband asked if they had a low alcohol beer, as we had a long drive next day. The man said As you're obviously from England, any American beer will be low alcohol to you. Over the years we've noticed that the Americans are now making some decent beers in micro-breweries, not before time too.
