"Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference".
Reinhold Niebuhr
We have to distinguish between worry and concern, not worrying to the point of making yourself ill or your family miserable makes sense.
However we can still be concerned and try to make things better where we can.
Good advice from Talbot and Mamya.
I used to worry about almost everything, but have come to realise that there is no good to come from fretting about things we can't do anything about.
We're 'under the cosh' at the moment from lots of directions. Medical (cancer, broken rib + other stuff) plus no heating, plumbing leaked - now need complete new kitchen floor - but life has taught us that being happy together is more important. Look for the good things in life and survive the bad - not always easy, I admit.
Mamya's quote is appropriate.
Yes, it's a quote I've always thought summed things up.
I did of course post before Talbot brought some World Leaders into the debate - now I do expect them to show concern and yes, even worry about certain things.
Surely that's why they put themselves in such a position, or is it?
It's known as the 'Serenity Prayer'. I first came upon it over 30 years ago when a Headteacher I taught for had it prominently displayed in her office - it was a difficult school; but I specialised in them (nearly broke me)!
