I Have To Chuckle

or I swear I would burst into tears.
To explain..
Latest development in Mr F's condition is attempted nocturnal wandering. (He can't get far because of the loss of his leg and enforced wheelchair use, he has lost so much body tone and weight that the prosthetic leg no longer fits.)
Anyway, for a few nights now he has started to want to get up from about midnight onward. I hit on the idea that if I made the room dark enough by drawing the blackout curtains, and telling him if they ARE drawn, then it was still night time.
Did it work?
Yes it did, only too well.
We both slept thro' until after 9.30 this morning!
(Makes a mental note to set an alarm for self) :)
Thanks for reading.

Alba, I assume if he rallies, then yes - a new leg will be needed - he HATES going to the limb centre.
Happy to shove him around in the chair until such times.
It is SO nice to share these little victories, you have no idea - thank you :)

I wouldn't worry about oversleeping. I actually set my alarm for 9.30am. I go to bed late and get up late. You obviously needed the sleep which will help you with your ability to care.
Do think about yourself when pushing the wheelchair - could you mange to get an electric version? It must be such hard work for you to push him along. Don't wear yourself out. xx

If you overslept - then you needed the sleep! Emmie is quite right. The only way to cope with these things is to llaugh about them. It's usually later that you chuckle, though. I'm not laughing at the mo. because Mr. J2 peeled off a ladder getting into the loft on Tues. aft. and I honestly thought he'd killed himself when (after the yell, thuds and crashing noises) I found him crumpled at the foot of the stairs. However, wry smiles are already appearing and once he is fully recovered I'll find something to laugh about.
You're being brave and capable, but please think of your own health and take care to give yourself bits of treats and time-out. I know how exhausted I felt yesterday with all the stress, picking up today after an outing just doing the shopping and a bit of a wander around. It must be far worse for you. :) xx

Unlike your problem Jourdain, this has crept on gradually over a good many years, so in a way I have got used to it gradually, and it's not a shock like you had. Strange how what seems to be a new and scary phase, soon settles into something quite 'do able'
Thanks all, will shut curtains again tonight :)

It's strange indeed, Ferlew what gradually becomes....the norm....and that's how your life is.....
I did it for eleven years with MrG....it's only lately I look back at what we had and then slowly lost......when it creeps up on you you accept it for what it is...
But you take care of you too, now!.....That's my order.....Love Gx
