Pruning The Shrubs
6 Answers
Hi green fingered ABers out there ..... can someone please remind me when I should start pruning my hydrangeas, and ditto for the standard roses ... the hydrangeas blooms have lost all their colour now, can I at least dead-head the blooms, but leave the rest?
Thanks, cheers, Chox.

well you can deadhead but not sure why you would want to...or prune. The dead heads on hydrangeas protect the new buds from frost and provide shelter for small garden wildlife. If there are any long pieces of shrub or standard rose that will cause wind rock and loosen roots then take those off but leave the rest until spring....better for the plants, better for the wildlife
