at the risk of this disappearing..... :-)

by convention, the final stage of the TdF is essentially a victory procession, with the winner having effectively been decided on the penultimate stage. by convention, the leader is not challenged and just has to cross the line.

by convention.

given the hostility afforded to riders in a particular team, what are the chances that "convention" will be ignored in Paris tomorrow?

Yes I saw that mushroom - but what is the basis for the animosity?
Chris Froome done an amazing disservice by the authorities for not explaining to the French public that the doping test was found to be be flawed.
He is suffering abuse based on lies.
Great Tour though, great result, looking forward to The Vuelta. Love it.

the runaway success of the team, over the past few years, who happen not to be French, essentially.
Oh I see, thanks. I was worried it was Brexit related :-)
Zero
Le Francais dunez do not likee us or de Breetish team winning der Tur De La Franc. Upem.
It's a victory procession till they reach Paris, then it's a race.
But in the nature of cycling anyway, the chances of the leader being overtaken are minimal - there is no way even on a normal flat stage that a lead of around 2 mins could be made up - especially as he will have the protection of his team mates both to cover breaks and to avoid accidents.
zero and even if it was ignored no one is going to make up enough time to change anything on a flat stage.
