For the last two months or so I’ve experienced a muscular-like pain when I first wake up. It is on right hand side of my lower back and usually eases after I have been sitting upright for about half an hour. It doesn’t occur every morning but maybe, once a week.
The thing is that sometimes the pain/ache is so bad as I get out of bed, I lose control of my bladder before I reach the bathroom.
At a nurse’s appointment this morning for a routine blood test, I mentioned it to her and she told me that if it carries on, I should see my doctor.
What do you think it is and should I bother the doctor with what I think is a muscular pain, maybe caused by my sleeping in the wrong position? It’s not my mattress as that has never caused me problems before and is only 18 months old.
You have not described the pain in much detail, as if it is constant or comes in waves. You haven't mention any urine abnormality, frequency or blood, although you did mention passing water involuntarily on one occasion.
Nothing sinister comes to mind and I agree with your assessment in that it is muscular.
Give it another month or so and if it doesn't improve, then see your GP.
