Just seen in the paper that 1930s posters urging people to buy British to help reduce unemployment and help the economy are up for sale and tipped to fetch £5,000 or more.

I think the article is saying that it resonates with Brexiteers but tbh I have always thought we should buy more home grown, British made products but we are so invested in cheap that we can’t compete with the likes of China and Asia.

Thank you for the link. I had only read it in the newspaper.
You're welcome, they are wonderful examples aren't they?
Edward VIII did not become king until 1936 so at the time he was still Prince of Wales.
Noted in the comments section, quite right.
Great sentiments, but think we would find it very difficult to survive on British made/grown products these days. We rely so much on the global economy.

Agree Maggie but we could try. There are plenty of things we do or could do that we simply don’t bother because it is maybe cheaper or easier to get it from outside the UK. We live in a throwaway society and I suppose not just for the economy but for the environment we need to be a little bit more self sufficient.

Soil exhaustion in the UK is already a significant threat as is.

Agricultural self-sufficiency in the modern world is a bit of a fantasy, unfortunately. If you want to eat more sustainably, eat less meat.
