when the Rooshans pipped the American to a lander in the mid sixties
one enterprising reporter got a geek to leash the signal to a teleprinter and out popped the moon piccies
( and he later commented - I cdnt beleive it no encoding at all)

The Chinese put a satellite in orbit round the moon a little while back in readiness.

Weaponise the moon perhaps? Control of our communications with moon based installations, perhaps? China already has advanced plans for a manned station on the moon and sees space as a huge "business" opportunity. In preparation there are more Chinese "space" lawyers than the rest of the World put together.
