Hearing Aids
10 Answers
I have used an NHS hearing aid for 6 years..recently needed a second aid.
The second aid is now having a new ear mould made as it was hurting..
Hearing is pretty bad I seem to be in my own little world not hearing much without them.
I always said there is no need to spend on expensive private aids when the NHS supply perfectly good aids...but, now having second thoughts.
Can any one advise on what to expect different/better with private hearing test and aids please..
Also how much money am I expecting to pay?

Thank you both for replying.
I note on the Which report it says the NHS can provide a different air to the more regular aid most people wear. I also noted there is a type for Tinnitus sufferes too. I have a permanent engine running in my head accompanied by whistling..I'm thinking I need to speak to my Au diologist when I collect the new mould, early January.
It's good to get opinions of other users..
My husband has 2 NHS aidscabd doesn't understand why I'm finding it do difficult..

Thanks for this Thisoldbird, Mr. J2 is struggling with his NHS aids and considering others. Quite often he has to leave one out because his ear was bleeding from the mould. Even so, occasionally he simply can't hear me.
We sing in a choir and he can hear the music and his own voice in his head, so holds note and tempo - odd. Driving me nuts quite honestly and has led to so many misunderstandings.
Thanks for the info.. Expensive, aren't they?
