Cosmetic Surgery

Has anyone ever had minor cosmetic surgery? I'm getting a bit "jowly" which is not a look I'm happy with and was thinking of doing something about it. Any experiences, good/bad appreciated.

Have you asked those closest to you for their honest opinions?
I booked a tummy tuck to remove the excess skin from major weight loss but backed out at the last moment. I decided an unnecessary operation was not worth the risk, however slight that is. I was also aware that after the tummy tuck I would probably still be very unhappy with the loose skin on my arms, legs, back, neck, face, buttocks - and where would it end?
There are some exercises you can do to tone up and tighten your jowls if you want to give them a try - also some gadgets you can buy to help you exercise but I don't know how effective they are.
I would advise you to think about it for at least 6 months before you consult a surgeon, see how you feel about it then.

Purist, there are thousands of tummy tuck ops carried out in the UK every year and the vast majority are successful, the risk of being one of the unfortunate few who die under GA or get a severe infection or other complication is slight.
That is what I meant, however you are correct that when it does go wrong it can be fatal or lead to major health problems.

I've been thinking about your post, maggie.
One of the sexiest women on tv at the moment is a mature woman who looks probably 10 years older than she is. Her face is 'lived in' with obvious sun damage and she was probably a heavy smoker for many years going by the lines on her face. But she has something - a lot of men in a fan page of the programme make it obvious how they feel about her.
I think she would lose a lot of her character if she turned back the clock and had surgery on her face, she would be just another bland woman of a certain age.
What she has is bags of confidence and a joy for life.
Of course, if your jowls truly make you very miserable then you should consider surgery but don't jump in - every consultant you see will tell you how much better you would look after, they want your money.
More important is how you see yourself and how your loved ones feel about you and your jowls.
