At a job interview the manager said he was looking for a responsible person.

I told him that in my last job, whenever things went wrong, they told me I was responsible.

Is that the same man who applied for the job of handy man? Couldn't do much, but told the manager at interview that he was definitely a handy man - he lived just round the corner!
