Acceptable Wedding Gift

I have been invited to the evening portion of a wedding and wondered what peoples opinions of what amount (if any) of money would be appropriate to give.

While I was delighted to receive an invite I was surprised as I haven’t been close friends with the bride for a number of years - we’re old school friends.
There is no link to a gift list with the invite or mention of giving money/donations. I was thinking maybe a card with £20 as a token? As a day guest I would normally give around £50 so this seems reasonable to me? I would feel wrong giving a card with nothing in it.

I think I would give a bottle of champagne, or a posh gin. (If they’re drinkers)

If you're going without a partner I think £20/£25 would be fine, if as a couple I would give £50

Impossible to put a price on it without knowing your finances. I suggest giving an amount which is a proportion of your weekly income income in percentage, say 5%, then;

If you have £300 per week, give £15.
If you have £1,000 per week give £50.

Or decide on a different percentage figure.
