I recall when two bay leafs turned up at my house. One of them was called Basil, i didn't get the other guys name, but he had sparse ginger hair sticking out either side of his scullcap. He was quite cocky, a bit of a johnny-jump-up, if you will. As they took away my comfrey armchair, they were more Laurel and Hardy, than proper bay leafs.
Basil apologised, but he didn't look sorrel at all. And my next door neighbour, Hazel, just couldn't hide her glee, the witch!
All in all, a very unsavory experience.
