We Have A Parson Russell *** Who Is Lovely And Has Fleas.

She is 9 and has never had fleas until a week or so ago. My previous experience was many years ago when i took our small cross breed to the vets about another complaint. He said "Look at these" and showed me fleas running around on his skin on his neck. I was shocked and the Vet said some dogs do not react to fleas Needless to say the *** were gotten rid of pronto.
The fleas I have discovered on the terrier are very tiny about 2 mm if not less. They are proving difficult to get rid of. I have used "Spot Treatment" on her withers twice and today on the root of her tail. She's a very active terrier and gets filthy almost every time I take her out. She will swim in a pond or the sea without any prompting and at any time of year (excluding ice of course). So, what's to be done??

Ask your vet if he/she can prescribe Lotilaner (which is marketed under the 'Credelio' brand name). It's a chewable tablet, that can easily be hidden in food, that kills ticks and fleas. My friend in Italy swears by the feline version of it for the colony of street cats that she looks after and (courtesy of said friend) I'm currently trying it with my cats too.

You need to treat your dog and your home at the same time, as fleas can jump from one to the other. You can use a flea spray or fogger that kills all stages of fleas, or call a professional exterminator. You should also wash your dog’s bedding, toys, and anything else that may harbor fleas in hot water.
