Am I A Bad Friend?
3 Answers
I have this girl that I am friends with. Let’s call her Lucy. I am 16.
Lucy (who is currently 17, turning 18 next year) is a very unique person. I have been friends with her ever since I was 13-14. She is 17 now, and acts exactly the same as she did when she was 14. She is obnoxious, only cares about others when it benefits her, and has a lot of attitude.
Today, my friend took out lunch and was prepared to eat it, when all of a sudden Lucy starts making a disgusted face. I look at Lucy, confused. She was disgusted with the food my friend was eating, and made that very obvious to everyone on the table. I told Lucy to stop, TWICE. She kept on going regardless. I even had to apologize to my friend because of Lucy’s behavior.
Other times, Lucy makes insensitive jokes about me, and tries to bring me down. For example, one time, I was telling her about how confident I am in myself, and she starts trying to bring me down. Whenever I compliment myself in front of her she just looks at me as if I am joking.
Another time, we were on the bus together and it didn’t smell good. She noticed this and started spraying her cheap ass body spray perfume. She was kind of spraying it toward my direction, so I told her, "Why are you spraying it towards me as if I smell bad?" After I said this, she LITERALLY looks at me as if I smell bad. IN FRONT OF MY FRIENDS!!
(I DO NOT SMELL BAD)
She just can’t read social cues, and she doesn’t know how to be mindful of the feelings of other people. I’ve tried talking to her about this before, but she mostly brushes it off. What do I do?
