Biggest Gap In Income And Spending Since...

I am thinking of moving to a place where you pay for living there. From Covid here - hardly speaks neighbourly and some are moving out - 3 have already done so and another neighbour will be moving out in 2 years time.
I am just wanting to be looked after, ie fed and have a little company. Don't get me wrong I will be doing my research. But just your opinion. Thanks

Clarify your needs. Do you want to be fairly independent and cook for yourself, or have them cook and you eat in communal dining room. How much medical/nursing care do you need. Can you take Maxie. Have guests stay over, take your own furniture.
Check the difference between "Sheltered accommodation" and a care home.
Good luck in your search
I think living with people and living alone when you're getting on a bit in years are two very different things. The elderly, in my opinion, need to feel safe and that someone cares. I know of one place that offers one and two bedroom flats with their own kitchens and bathrooms, all contained within a secure building with community rooms and activities available. I think there are about twenty flats in all. The residents there mix with others as much or as little as they want - they can always go home and shut their door - but there's always someone on hand should they need help. I think it's something well worth considering.
850 a month is cheap and akin to what would pay for a normal 2 bedroom house/flat/cottage down here. My recently late Aunt paid more than three times that on the fringe of the Lake District, albeit a lovely place and set up with a restaurant and care facilities as age advanced. Go one stage further as into dementia care and the costs rocket - my Mater running at £1750 a week at the moment.

JJ I live in my own ground floor flat with its own garden and my little dog Jay.
This year I will be 86 years old. Several of my neighbours look out for me as I have for them over the years. I have no plans at present to move from here. Hope I don't have to but I am thinking of hiring a washer upperer for a half hour a day;-) I already have a cleaner who comes 1.5 hours a fortnight. I want her to come once a week but she won't as she's too busy and she says I don't need it anyway!!
I hope you find somewhere you and Maxie will be happy together. xx
