What music concerts have you been to and were they any good?

Its one of my regrets in life that I havnt been to more concerts. Only been to a handful.

Ive seen Status Quo. They were fantastic.

Alice cooper. Beyond fantastic with the stage theatrics.

Spandau Ballet. Not my cup of tea but the ex wanted to go see them when they reunited. Had a surprisingly good night.

Seen a few lesser known act from the 80's...Thunder, Quireboys etc.

A friend of mine went to a Jam concert and said they were awful live.

Bet Andy Hughs has seen literally thousands of concerts. 😁

I saw MeatLoaf in Wembley Arena in 1983, brilliant show!

Would have loved to have seen Meatloaf 3T...

Big fan back in the day.

Dire Straits at Woburn Abbey

Pink Floyd at Earls Court

Sting at Birmingham and Wembly

All terrific.

You can see different bands in different venues and that makes a difference as well.  Saw the Rolling Stones at Twickenham in 2003 and they were fantastic but saw them in other venues and OK but not the same.  Eurythmics Peace Tour (London Arena) were amazing, Brian Ferry at Shepherds Bush Empire and George Michael at Wembly Arena (christmas 2006) were probably my favourites.

And the O2 is good as well.  Saw UB40 there a while ago and they were brill - better than I expected

My favourites were Lou Reed, Ry Cooder, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and, most recently, The Pet Shop Boys.

The worst was Eric Clapton - I nearly fell asleep

concert tickets are becoming prohibively expensive: our last tickets were £125 each πŸ™

First concert I was ever at was The Beatles at the Caird Hall in Dundee.  Last was Neil Diamond in Glasgow.  Both fantastic.

Also went to see Christy Moore at the Barbican. Just him and his guitar on stage. That was magical.

I should have added Queen in 1975 as a favourite - Bohemian Raphsody was at number 1

For me, Bob Marley here in London! The place was rocking. The worst was Isaac Hayes. Admittedly he was old & this was shortly before he died, but they literally had to wheel him out. He could have been a corpse standing there singing.

I know someone who spent over £300 on a ticket to see AC/DC at Wembley recently.

saw Queen in Hammersmith on the tour where they were the support act to Mott the Hoople in 1973. same year saw ELP at Wembley, and the following year was at Charlton where The Who headlined (along with Lou Reed, Montrose, Lindisfarne, Humble Pie, etc). a really good gig was in a small venue at Yarmouth in 1977, Showaddywaddy - the thing about that gig was the band members moved from instrument to instrument, all were talented all rounders.

My daughter is a bit of a gig fiend and I've accompanied her to concerts by REM, Meatloaf, Foo Fighters and Bon Jovi.

it really doesn't matter who you see. If the musicians are competent, confident and enthusiastic about their craft, you'll have a great few hours.

Crikey Nailedit - did he get it from a tout or was that the going rate?

Christy Moore, and another favourite of mine most will not be familiar with, Eric Boyle.

The concerts I have been at include Ike and Tina Turner, Lulu, Runrig, Christy Moore, Dubliners, Aslan.

They were all very enjoyable.

My 18.39; Eric Bogle, (I'm not familiar with Eric Boyle either πŸ˜‚)

Going rate apparently.

Mind you, they have got to come from Austraia so someone has to pay the airfareπŸ˜‚

I always thought that Ebay was responsible for ticket price increases.  Yes, you always had the ticket touts outside of the venue (got brilliant Randy Crawford tickets that way) but once Ebay started and online touts bought up loads of tickets then sold them for ridiculous prices the promoters thought "Hang on, if that's what people are prepared to pay then why aren't we charging that price?"  That's when prices became silly.
