Sister over 80 fell last Thursday in her yard as she was meticulously brushing up and fell on a pebble - she has been invaded with workers doing the whole 5 houses up ie - new slates, chimney pots, new doors.  I knew about 3 months ago this would be the death of her.  And I am right - she fell and broke her arm and her hip.  She contactd me on the Friday and as she is just a "perfectionist" lady I find it very hard to see this fragile lady.  left arm has plaster of paris and she keeps on squealing with the pain with the arm and hip.  I know this lady to be extremely dignified and so this stresses me out.  I have visited her and she does come across a bit confused but when I called today she has been operated on so I didn't see her.    My own feet and legs are playing me up I couldn't go down the second time today so now I know her future wont be the past.  I am very annoyed and upset as I am an old lady myself but apart from cousins etc we just have each other.

That's some fright at any age never mind 80, Jenny.

Hopefully she rallies, try not to fret and look after yourself.

Very sorry to hear this, JJ.  There is hope, so don't give up just yet.  Your sister has been operated on and is being looked after, with luck she will recover well and return home.

Look after yourself, too.  Rest those legs and feet at every opportunity and treat yourself to a bit of what you fancy every now and then.

thank you guys - oh guy fawkes LOL - even though this happened on Friday the phone calls (she doesn't live anywhere near me) but her visitors and our in-laws, and friends have been calling me tonight.  And neighbours - they have all been brilliant.  I am not looking forward to seeing her tomorrow in more pain.

I will give you a laugh.  My neighbour told me where to park in the hospital carpark but I got lost and ended up in a street near the hospital.  I had to walk about maybe 15 houses in a street to a bus but couldn't walk and two guys were getting into a car from a wee house.  I asked them - could you bring me up to the top of the street so I can get the bus.  They did so but one of the guys said to me - "don't you ever do that again - get a lift with strangers" - I said - why - he said they could run away with you.  Says me - well they would be hard up.  Anyway - have no idea what is going to pan out but as my cousins told me I need to stop stressing out cos I will become ill myself.

JJ, it happened and there's absolutely nothing you can do about that.  I can feel the stress in your post, but you making yourself ill won't help. You need to stay strong for your sister and most importantly - for yourself.  Thinking of you x

Sending best wishes for a speedy recovery to your sister🌹🌹Take care of yourself

So sorry that your sister has had such a fall, but hopefully she will mend and be back to her old self soon. But as has been said you must also take  care of yourself too x

Your cousins are quite right.

Good luck regarding today's visit.

thank you for your kind posts

Now that she has had the op her pain may well be better controlled. People do rally JJ, even at your sisters age and we all hope that will be the case, but as everyone has said you need to look after yourself. Take care JJ and best wishes to your sister
