my socks drive me mad they just won't stay up ,i end up with them bunching in the toes of my shoes  ,tried all sorts from diabetic ones etc  .How do you keep yours in place ? x

Have you tried 6-inch nails, mally? They do hurt a little, and there's lots of blood, but the socks remain in place.

Not something I have a problem with, but find it happens when they start getting old and a bit stretched.  Any chance you could be buying a size too big so they don't fit snuggly?

I have often arrived home after a walk and found my entire sock has worked its way down in to my shoe.

BP meds made my ankles swell so I started wearing compression knee socks -  cheapo from ebay - they stay in place fine.

I can't say I've ever had that problem. Even my old pairs don't swivel down... they stay in place. 

Don't buy thin socks. I think they are more likely to get loose and baggy.

Mally, the answer is to buy bamboo socks.  I used to have the same problem but not since I bought these.

I my experience thin socks are made of a material that shrinks in the wash so don't slip so much, but get difficult to put on and take off, eventually resulting in holes and/or broken seams. Thicker socks tend to be made of a material that stretches and sags in the wash, and so becomes loose and tend to fall down/off.

 

Good socks seem hard to find, it must be because they are too expensive to contemplate buying, maybe ?  Beware socks where the manufacturer dare not put it's name on the packaging in case you avoid them in the future.

The problem may be your shoes.... If the insole is a bit grippy socks tend to work their way down.   Especially beware of the stitched in labels  they  always seem to do it for me.

As Ladybirder - bamboo socks, Moshulu, etc.  Maybe more expensive but worth it.

Hi LB. It was not there when I started writing, but the first thing I did was check it out, thanks. You have to buy a lot to avoid p&p charges though. Plus my issue is having far too many pairs of socks, even though very few of them are in tip top condition. They may even see me out if they don't get so shrunk I have to give up on them all.

Is this with new socks or older ones.  If it's the latter it could be that they have been washed in water that is too hot and elastic has stretched.

bought bamboo socks no joy ,bought more cotton ones  they  fall down  .can't have too tight ones as my ankles swell ,nails could be the answer x

Typical Answerbank overkill with the six inch nails when a staple gun is perfectly adequate.

It's been a long time since I bought new socks...before I quite working so at least 5 years. I got Pringle socks from tkmaxx. I'm still wearing them...no sagging or holes. I don't know if they are bamboo. I see amazon has Pringle...and a lot of bamboo men's. I'd imagine a small would be fine.
