Low Rise Trousers
Do girls wear them because (a) they are fashionable (b) they look sexy or (c) they are comfortable? Do men find them particularly sexy on women?
I ask this because I am way past the age of wearing them, so perhaps it is jealousy. However, on the majority of girls I think they look very unattractive, but great if you have a figure like Rachel Stevens. I just see so many girls wearing them who have 'spare tyres' and who would look so much better if they didn't reveal middles and builders' bums.

Also, for the last few years it has been difficult to find anything but low rise as high waisted jeans/trousers have gone out of fashion. They are on their way back in again though
That's the only explanation I can find for all the flabby tummies, spare tyres and rolls of flesh that these women display in all weathers.
Mind you - I've destroyed all the evidence of what I wore in my youth. :)
I must admit Ethel that I was an extreme exhibitionist in my youth as far as clothing was concerned. However, I was very tall and slim when I wore micro suede hotpants and those blouses that knotted just under the bust. (I wore them to work!!!). Girls generally seem to have got a lot plumper in the last thirty years. Even the clothes sizes are bigger, eg. size 12 used to be a 24" waist, now I believe it is 28".
I have diversified, sorry.
I wear them because they are the only thing I can find. (Not the REALLY low ones!) In most shops, high waist jeans are always accompanied by baggy thighs and tapered legs - very mumsy and not the look I like. I'm more concerned with what my legs look like in jeans! (although I admit that I do have a bit of a muffin top even though I'm only a size 10 - try to keep it hidden away though!)
When I started my current job I had a real job trying to find jeans which looked nice but had a higher waist. The dress code is casual so I wanted to wear jeans, but didn't want to show any bumcrack to my bosses...! Eventually I found a pair that don't show too much flesh when I sit down or bend down, but they are still a couple of inches below my belly button, so not really that high.
morg-monster. I agree those waisted jeans with tapered legs look mumsy and are very unflattering. , and why are the legs so baggy! They are made for people with small waists and large bums and thighs.
I used to be able to get exactly what I wanted from M&S, waistband just below the waist, nice longlegs and snug round the hips and thighs - but, as always when I find something good - they have been discontinued.
metagirl - I bought some jeans in New Look a few weeks ago - they had a selection of styles there, from low, low risers, to just low risers and the ones I got were just below the waist, in all different sizes and leg lengths, and they were only 15, which I thought was excellent value!
I think the low risers can look attractive on the right figure but, as has been mentioned previously, some girls just don't suit them!!
