Can anyone help please?
I have a first counselling session this friday and though I have had counselling before I feel really dauted about this. Can anyone help who has been through the same thing please. The counselling is for depression and am really hoping it can help as have been very low and stuck in a rut for a few months now.

I too had councelling a few years ago.
I would describe it as 'having a boil'. I was in a lot of (emotionl) pain before I went, it hurt 'getting it lanced' (talking about it) but felt a heck of a lot better as it healed.
It won't be easy, but you will get there. You really need to get on with your counsellor to be able to 'open up'. If you don't feel you don't feel comfortable, try another. Don't give up. I didn't feel comfortable with my first counsellor, but the second became like a mum to me and really helped to turn my life around.
My thoughts and best wishes are with you.
Hey there people well just to say thanks for all your advice etc.
Re: getting a different counsellor the one on tursday will be my fouth one in 3 years or so. At the start of uni saw a woman at the uni counselling service then i was off with glandular fever so didnt come back till after christmas. When i came back she had left but they gave me a young male counsellor who i got on very well with. But this was more just talking and didnt get me that far so was seeing doctor every month and he insisted i see the CPN (glorified counsellor??) at the surgery. So saw her from around december 2003 till april 2005.
The other thing is that here at home the letter from the nhs counselling service says they offer "brief" counselling of 4 to 8 sessions. While i think 8 might be enough i hope that its like say one a fortnight then onto one a month cos that would help. Thats what i have found i initially need a lot of help but once things start to help used to see counsellor at uni every three weeks.
I dunno as long as she can help me get going on the way to changing some things in my life thats what matters i suppose.
thanks again for listening to me.
