Family Tree Question

When someone is tracing their family tree, do you include your families partners who they aren't married too - nor do they have children too? And following on from that what about same sex partners. Are they included?

I think this would depend on yourself really, if you want to include them then include them.

Well I suppose it 's all a matter of personal choice.

I always include my families partners and children if they have them but I don't include the partner's parents or siblings. If they were together for a long time but not married (lived together) I would still include them but if they were only short term, no I wouldnt - my brother would have loads attached to him if I did that!

when drawing up an actual tree, use a broken line to link in any partner , whether with or without children. this is the acceptable method.
