Hi. I've been having really bad "depressive episodes" recently, and I've noticed the last one happened just 3 weeks ago, and today I'm feeling "it" again. I've just been out for a quick meal with my friend (male), and i behaved absolutely appalingly, same as last time. I just sat there, saying nothing, sneering at his jokes, just basically wanting to kill someone, even him - and god knows I love him to bits. I've just got home, didn't hug him as i usually do, and burst into tears for no reason. The smallest thing sets me off, seriously. I threw my bag towards the sofa, and it landed on the floor. Well, that made me burst into tears, and even ( I'm not joking) I had suicidal thoughts, like I don't want to live anymore, it's not worth it...and had to fight the urge to hurt myself. I'm a bit more settled now, but i'm seriously worried, since it happened not too long ago in the same way. Have I just got a bad case of PMS (I'm due in a few days) - but is there such a thing??? am I depressed, or am I just completely bonkers ???? Thanks for your help. x

maximo - sounds like pms to me, keep an eye on your dates, hopefully it should subside. If you experience the same feelings next month see your doctor & explain all
you went through, there's bound to be something they can
give you.
Agree with Skyep, could possibly be the onset of your period, so again as advised, see if this happens at the same time in 4 weeks time, I'm the same but not as extreme I always have to have a good cry for no reaosn when I am due. Roll on menopause!!!!

If you are on the pill, go and see your doctor and get it changed, good luck x

Hi! thank you for your replies ! It's really strange because it seems to happen only at intervals, and I'm not sure if it's related to my periods, since I don't keep a close eye on the dates. It's really worrying me, as it gets very "extreme", as you said..... I'm not on the pill, but was thinking that it might be a solution ?
Hi Maximo, yes sounds like PMT to me too.... And to anyone who has never suffered it, or thinks us women make it up! Well we dont.

I have had times when I have acted irrationally, argued, cried, been downright nasty, and been aware that its not my normal behaviour, but just cant help it.

So no, you are not bonkers. But its not nice is it.

I meant its not nice feeling like that...........

thanks Alice, it's exactly how it feels! I can't believe the way I behaved today, thank god I have an understanding friend...I used to think PMT was just a good excuse for behaving a bit strangely, but my god ! It feels just like you're going mad, because you act and feel completely out of character, ready to kill someone if they drop so much as a pin, you KNOW you are not behaving in a normal way, and yet you can't help it. I'm glad I'm not alone, but jeeee....I'm gonna visit my GP to see if there is anything I can take to ease it, if it's really what's happening. I don't want to lose friends over it!
I have talked to my doctor about this Maximo, and being on a mild anti-depressant can help. But reading your post about how you felt, is exactly how I have been. And at times I have felt like a complete nut case...........so rest assured ...you are not alone. But its sh*t. I know xx
Hey ((max)) long time no see :) I get like that as well, it is a horrible feeling & the crueliest twist is...your worse with those closest to you :( but its best to be honest & let people around you know your having a 'off day' otherwise your'll spend days feeling miserable worrying about upsetting people 'after' your off days :(

Evening primrose oil tablets really do help take the 'edge' off but you must stick to taken them everyday.

Thanks Jo, long time no see indeed ! I hope you are ok ! :-) I'm gonna try the evening primrose tablets, I'm always keener to try natural "remedies" first, but if it doesn't improve, I'll go see my doctor. On the plus side, I've just had the most fantastic day out with my "mate" (you know who....), and he understood completely, and it was absolutely lovely! :-) I can't stop smiling now, what a difference a day makes !!! xxx
