While watching Star Wars last night i was just wondering when they shot the scenes with Darth Vader which was played by David Prowse (Green Cross Code Guy) how did they film the scenes when Darth Vader talked which was voiced by James Earl Jones?.I have heard a couple of ways they may have done this. They had David Prowse speak in the scene & then later on get James Earl Jones to speak over the lines or When the actors shot a scene with Darth they just responed as if Darth was speaking & the voice was added later.Or was it some other way.
the guy who played C3PO was on Dermott OLeary's show on R2 last weekend, and he said that they let David Prowse do the lines, in his Bristol accent, and then added in the James Earl Jones voice later. Easily done, since Darths lips don't actually move - no lip synching required!
I'm pretty sure that Dave Prowse did the speaking & it was dubbed over.
Dunno how true this is but I've also read on more than one occasion that DP was surprised when he found out his voice wasn't going to be used. Just imagine: "You are a member of the Alliance & traitor..." in a Cornish accent!
That is indeed true stoo_pid. DP wasn't told about JEJ and he went to the premier of Star Wars expecting to hear his voice. He was a bit miffed when he found out it was'nt him.
Poor Dave! "Oi dunner whoi they dindernt use moy voice." Apparently he was also a bit miffed that the part of Superman went to Chris Reeves, and then he was hired to train him so that his physique matched Dave's. "They said that they wanned him to look jus loik me. They coulder jus used me, loik."
again on the Dermot show on Saturday,....C3PO (apologies for not remembering his real name) said this story about David Prowse being miffed was untrue, and that he knew his would not be the real voice of Vader. Maybe he was just being nice tho.....
