Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons - The Night

It's actualkly just Frankie Valli as a solo artist. It's one of the few Motown releases by a white artist - it was originally on the Los Angeles offshoot label MoWest, and it's a huge Northern Soul fave.

Actually it IS a group effort not a SOLO.

 

Berry Gordy used to love buying up the local opposition, and as was mentioned, the song originated on the MoWest label.

 

Gordy also bought the RIC-TIC label, which is how the late great Edwin Starr arrived at Motown.  His earlier hits had been recorded on Ric-Tic prior to Gordy buying the label.
