this is just getting beyond a joke now, my son in law wanted to take photos of my grandson on a wateslide in a small holiday park and nearly got thrown out as there is a ' no camera rule', WTF !!
During the same holiday i wanted to take pictures of all my grandsons ( 6 of them ) on Peranporth beach i actually felt like a criminal...
Until this situation is resolved there will be generations of children growing up with no photographic record..

I totally agree - my 12 year old was playing a badminton match and I received a phone call asking if a father from the opposing team could take photos. Do people take photos at kids football matches, tennis etc still ?
peri....I am a bit confused, who do you agree with, dan and chas or the Daily Mail reporter?
I think we are getting too PC in this society and I agree with dan and chas - i did not need a phone call for permission to take photos of my child and as a child I was a target of a paedophile so I am well aware of the dangers.
peri...yes I agree.
Me too - the rules & regulations have gone way too far.
I used to take pics of my two in the bath, in the pool, running around naked in the garden - totally innocent and really lovely.
We have to be aware of the sick paedo's out there - but taking it to this extent is just ridiculous.
My daughter has been to the morris dancing championbships at Pontins this weekend, and because i was not on the pre-booked list i could not go as the security on the gate are not allowed to let any member of the public in that hasn't been authorised. That included if i went for the afternoon with my grandson! It is the rules of the company when there is an event on involving children. I have no issue with it, I suppose it is a play safe option.
Can anyone answer my question about a wider arena for example a kids football match ?

I mean - taking pictures only when your own are involved of course dancairo - other kids are going to be in the photos and I was just wondering was it the same in a bigger arena where it is not as personal as a badminton court for example ???
Is there a problem today?

Home office figures show us there are approximately 110,000 convicted paedophiles that live in Britain (experts would put the figure at more like 230,000) and only 5,000 are on the sex offender ' s register. That means 95,000 live in communities and we don't have the right to know who or where they are.

Worrying eh?
It's very worrying sqad - but I don;t think the mass banning of all these photos at kids' events is going to stop any of them if they are determined (or sick) enough....

sorry....pressed the wrong t1t.

"Every day there are on average, 10 sex attacks on children."

salla....maybe....I don't know the answer.
They are usually well known to the family
I loved the Matt cartoon in the Telegraph last week, which said it all:

Picture of youth getting his 18th Birthday Card from Mum and Dad - "Congratulations, son, on becoming a suspected paedophile......"

This whole business has become ludicrous. One of my relatives took some photos of his son at a Cub sports day, in the presence of the boy's grandad. His malicious ex reported him to the police for taking pictures in of the youngster in his"underwear" i.e. shorts, singlet and trainers. He was arrested and his camera and work PC gone through, before the police finally recognised they had "been had". No apology, mind!

Recently. a toddler escaped from his mother, who was distracted for a moment with some shopping, in our local High Street and ran towards the road. I must admit, I did stop and think dare I touch this child to stop him running into the road, when once it would never even have crossed my mind.

There was a TV programme a little while ago, which had a couple of lost children in a shopping centre and watched how many people obviously saw them, but did equally obviously did not want to get involved - they asked people afterwards who had ignored the child and many said they thought it was too risky in case they got accused of doing something they shouldn't. The best some would do was to tell a security guard.

Things can only get worse, with a quango like the ISA, staffed with nutters who will start to justify their existence by proposing ever wilder new restrictions - no new dad can touch his baby until he shows his ISA check........... and as for taking a photo to send to Granny - Blue flashing light time!

one of the grandkids had a combined 6th birthday with a couple of classmates the parents ended up hiring a hall and inviting the whole class, while the kids were being entertained the parents and grandparents stood around and it was ages before someone dare get a camera or video out it was as if we were all waiting for someone to get theres out first, once a couple of flashes went of it was like a signal for everyone else...just soooo wrong
My personal thoughts are better safe than sorry x
