Turps or White Spirit

Both Turps Substitute and White Spirit look the same, cost the same, and seem to do the same job, thinning paint and cleaning brushes, why do we need both, what is the difference, can anyone tell me please?

'The difference between Turpentine Substitute and White Spirit is much like the difference between 2 and 4 star petrol. Turps Sub is a greasier product and not generally used for mixing paint. It is used mainly in cleaning brushes and equipment.

Turps like White Spirit is a distillate of oil and is used for hundreds of applications. In industry it can be used to remove stains from accidental spillage and used in manufacturing to clean sealed units.

Turps Sub and white spirit are both flammable, harmful and a marine pollutant. They are supplied in containers with Child Resistant Closures and conforms to the relevant regulations.

My experience has always been that White Spirit is a lot cheaper than Turps
