Cheeky mare

Had to take my youngest to the doctor's today and as it is the school holidays I had to take my other children too (I have 5 (who were all planned although I obviously didn't plan on twins) - 9 years old, 6 years old, 4 years old and 2 year old twins). We waited 25 minutes for our appointment during which time they played with the toys available (in the empty waiting room) and generally were well behaved (with the exception of one of the twins who is a little 'over-excitable'). When I took the youngest ones in to the doctor's room the cheeky mare had the gall to ask me about what contraception I was using! Is it me or was that completely out of line?

Unless he was a close friend and said it as a joke with a cheeky smile and a wink then I would've said that he was rude, His business is to diagnose and make better not get involved in your life unless it was being hazardous to your health.

As a family we don't go to the doctor's very often so I don't know any of them as such - was just so cross with myself for not saying anything at the time. And she had the bloody cheek to ask if their dad was a hand's-on sort (obviously expecting me to day that they all had different dad's!).

I think thats cheeky! the appointment wasn't for you, and contraception is a personal choice anyway so unless it's relevant to your treatment or you asked the doc about it, it's none of their business.

I hate the way people make assumptions when you have kids, our dentist recently told my OH to have the snip, because we have a little girl and another baby on the way - the dentist seemed to think that anymore than 2 kids was a mistake, just because his 3rd was! Dentist though....I had to laugh to stop myself from going back and telling him he was advising about the wrong end of the body! Idiot!!

Id seriously reconsider trying to get your doctors changed as this one seems to be very judgmental and seems to worry more about morals then helping people, Im pretty sure theres nothing in the hippocratic oath he had to take about this.

Look, you're obviously wrong for having a large family, and what a terrible burden on society in general they must be. Bad, bad girl! Bl**dy idiot, how dare she say such a thing?!?! I come from a family of 4, and both my parents from a family of 6, it would never have even have been thought of 30 or 40 years ago to mention such a thing! Maybe they are getting Government advice about anyone having more than a couple of kids? Or just cheeky! I had a nurse in the village I used to live in tell me 'I'll have to use the bigger blood pressure band (don't know the name of it) because you're a bit chunky, aren't you love?' !! Cheek! I was most put out. :/

Relief - there are large families! Am surrounded by career 30+ females vowed never to have children after spending easter with nephews & neices ;p

Your doc is probably career like-minded but failing to accept her fate. Spare her some sympathy for her chosen lifestyle.

i can see why your peed off with that, i would be too, infact i would probably tke it further and issue a complaint to the surgery!!!!!!

a friend of mine has 5 kids (none multiples) and has had a c section for each.
her consultant is actually supportive of her wanting more but her GP is always trying to tell her off

I would be annoyed that she spoke about contraception when it was not even your appointment! obviously stupid doctor sees more that one child + some childhood noise (which is not allowed these days) and couldnt cope.
