MM Links June 2010 [Week 4]
53 Answers
Once again, this is crofter launching this last week in the June’s MM Links Game ~ and happy to cover for caslass who is recovering from a recent operation. We wish her a full and speedy recovery. In the meantime, I have been taking advantage of the fine weather to tackle the numerous weeds that have had three years to establish a firm footing in my borders virtually without interference from me!
Needless to say, I move at a slow pace as I try to remove every trace of roots from buttercup and dandelion. Mrs Crofter calls it “namby pambying”, but I see no point to allowing the same weed to regenerate itself if I can avoid it! I have been tracing a mole tunnel back through the border as I go. Eventually, I shall trace it back to the meadow boundary, where the moles enter my garden. There I shall set my mole traps!!

I have made firm friends with two male blackbirds on the search for worms and grubs. As I proceed along the border, I uncover loads of worms, which have been spotted by the blackbirds. When they approach gingerly, if I stay stock still they can approach remarkably close ~ ending up within 12 inches of my knees! Blackbirds are very territorial and when they meet up, feathers can start flying.
This final week in June, I shall permit myself a degree of lateral thinking. However, what I shall not change is the usual system for assessing the MM Links game and I have followed the usual rule on word length. Each of my chosen link words contains at least four letters and at most eight. Stray outside this range and you will be wasting one of your attempts! Each of my selected words may go in front of or after my challenge word. The competition will officially close at 7.00pm on Sunday evening when I shall declare my selected words, then apply the same rules for awarding points that have been applied during all MM Link Games in the past. This final set of four words to have their links predicted will appear below at 9.00am.
