Don´t be fooled

There have been a number of posts recently about “getting old” and I would like to add my personal comments, which may not apply to everyone.
I would NEVER, admit to my age on AB and certainly NEVER to strangers and I NEVER celebrate my birthday with either cards , presents or a party.
Who really cares how old sqad, carlton, Mcmouse, docspok askyour gran ect are and what is the point of celebrating another year bringing one closer to one´s death?
There are no advantages at all, to becoming old, however I have seen younger and healthier septuagenarians than some 50 year olds (usually die to smoking)
You still look with lust at younger women and they look at you with abhorrence, one thread last weak even suggested that you were a “pervert” should you peruse the younger female form.
Nobody is interested in your opinions describing them as “here he goes again, better in our days” or more commonly on AB as “looking through rose coloured specatacles.

You are bloody boring and when one walks into a café, the younger generation look at you with that “Christ, I hope he isn’t coming to sit next to us” look.
Each morning you wake up and know that by and large it is going to be no different than the previous days and often with a pain in some obscure part of the body which you have never had before.
It should be a complete embarrassment to grow old and your only salvation is that there are more and more old “buggers” to live your days with and kidding yourself that it is quite something to be proud off………….it isn’t.
AB serves a special function as a reservoir for the “oldies” to be patronized by the members.
Don´t grow old, but if you do, don’t do it gracefully.
This missive does not in any way support accusations or contentions that I am a septogenarian.

To a certain extent I think there is something to be proud of if one makes old age. If someone makes it to old age and manages to overcome some sort of adversity to get there (poverty, illness, stuck married to the same boring old fart for years etc) then they should be proud. Better than dying young. All those rock stars that sang that it`s better to die young then get old are probably eating their words now.

Well I intend to grow old disgracefully ....and make sure Redman does the same
I hated growing older when I was in my thirties...now I embrace my impending cronehood knowing I am braver, bolder and a lot more fun than I was at 13,23,33, and 43 and will probably be even worse at 63 and above... There is a lot of truth in the saying we don't stop playing when we grow old we grow old when we stop playing .... and my role model is Diana in 'waiting for god'
