Hi -my gran used to make a lovely light fruit cake that contained lots of glace cherries , sultanas and ground almonds - it was called <childrens cake> for some reason - I lost the recipe and wondered if anyone had heard of this recipe? it would be ancient , probably 1950's at least and I know she used to use a lot of Be-ro recipes but doing a search with that name just brings up zillions of childrens birthday cake recipes. thanks in advance - also looking for a recipe for <white Christmas Cake>

½ lb butter beaten to a cream with ½ lb castor sugar, break in four fresh eggs, beating each separately, add gradually ½ lb flour, then 1 oz of skinned and chopped pistachio nuts, 1 oz chopped sweet almonds, ½ lb glacé cherries halved, the grated rind of a lemon. Mix well, bake in a moderate oven for some two hours. Cover with soft icing, and decorate if desired.
