I never really liked the terminology "Old Farts" but this makes me feel better about it.
And if you ain't one, I bet ya you know one!

Old Farts are easy to spot at sporting events; during the playing of the National Anthem. Old Farts remove their caps and stand to attention and sing without embarrassment. They know the words and believe in them.
Old Farts remember World War II, Dunkirk, El Alemain , Normandy and Hitler. They remember the Atomic Age, the Korean War, The Cold War, the Jet Age and the Moon Landing. They remember the 50 plus Peacekeeping Missions from 1945 to 2005, not to mention The Falklands .
If you bump into an Old Fart in the street he will apologize. If you pass an Old Fart on the street, he will nod or tip his cap to a lady. Old Farts trust strangers and are curtious to women.
Old Farts hold the door for the next person and always, when walking, make certain the lady is on the inside for protection.
Old Farts get embarrassed if someone curses in front of women and children and they don't like any filth or dirty language on TV or in movies.
Old Farts have moral courage and personal integrity. They seldom brag unless it's about their children or grandchildren.
It's the Old Farts who know our great country is protected, not by politicians, but by the young men and women in the military serving their country.

This country needs Old Farts with their work ethic, sense of responsibility, pride in their country and decent values.
We need them now more than ever.

I was taught to respect my elders….It's just getting harder to find them.

Oh chrissa, my OH is one through and through!.......love him!.........
I cant remember World War 2 as I was born in 1941 but the rest fits me like a halo.
They do still exist. Not to mention the Young Farts who were taught manners by their Old Fart parents.
daisy, true!...sadly not many of them around though!...........
No, they let the door slam in your face nowadays. I used to love being cossetted. Could never understand feminists. I like having my chair held for me to sit down - they would probably pull it out for me to fall down and think it was funny. How lovely to see men standing up when a lady walks into the room. And for them to stand and give you their seat. Happy days.
I was born after the Second World War, my father was at El Alemein. My son was born after the moon landing. He always makes sure that a lady walks on the inside. He is courteous, has moral courage and integrity. He is bringing up his children with the same values. I love him very much. My daughter is definitely a lady. Her children follow her example. More love.
Hi Jemisa, my grandad was an old fart, my dad is an old fart, and i am an apprentice old fart , excellent post.
Good for you Toff!..........we need more young men like you!.............lots of them are just the opposite nowadays!..............
Hi Toff, keep practising. You really are appreciated.
Thank you ladies.
Spot on Jemisa and all my top respect to all them Old Farts, sadly outnumbered by young chavs who are not fit to kiss their A**e
I was a young fart but now I am too old and I need the seat on the bus for myself. Sorry ladies!
if i was male i would qualify as an old fart. but i must say i love being treated as though i am someone precious.
most old farts also appreciate that just because i am a woman i can have a mind and thoughts of my own. they have been around long enough to have learnt to appreciate you for who you are and not just a good body and pretty face, etc.,
